In a bold move to advance digital literacy and innovation in Adamawa State, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri today presided over the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Wootlab Foundation and Microsoft. The partnership aims to empower 100,000 residents and civil servants with essential digital skills, equipping them to thrive in the modern digital economy.
The signing ceremony, held at the Government House in Yola, was graced by top government officials, including Deputy Governor Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly Hon. Bathiya Wesley, Secretary to the State Government Barr. Awwal D. Tukur, Chief of Staff Hon. Maxwell Ezra, and Special Adviser on ICTs, E-governance, and Policy, Dr. Hammajam Ahmed Adamu, among others.
During the event, Dr. Hammajam Ahmed Adamu delivered a comprehensive presentation on the Digital Academy Portal (www.digitalacad.adamawastate.gov.ng), highlighting its functionality and accessibility for residents eager to enroll in the program. He emphasized the portal’s role in streamlining the registration process and providing a seamless user experience for participants.
Governor Fintiri described the initiative as a transformative step toward fostering a digitally inclusive Adamawa, emphasizing the importance of equipping the workforce and citizens with skills to enhance productivity, innovation, and job creation.
“This partnership with Wootlab Foundation and Microsoft emphasizes our administration’s unwavering commitment to bridging the digital divide and preparing our people for the opportunities of the 21st century. By empowering 100,000 citizens with digital skills, we are laying the foundation for a prosperous, tech-enabled Adamawa State,” the Governor remarked.
Enrollment for the program is now open at (www.digitalacad.adamawastate.gov.ng), offering an accessible platform for residents to begin their digital journey.
The program, which forms part of the Adamawa Digital Academy initiative, will focus on a wide range of skills, including software development, data analysis, cybersecurity, digital marketing, and more. The partnership also promises to drive capacity building within the civil service, ensuring efficiency and innovation in public administration.
